This is not intended to be a walkthrough for completing the game. In The Beginner's Guide to System Shock 2, we'll cover a few gameplay basics and strategies for success. This guide is written in hopes that first-timers will make it to the second time. After the first playthrough, this sinks in, and players enjoy things more the second time around. Every choice, each pull of the trigger has long-lasting consequences. Each skill you upgrade means other skills won't be upgraded. Each bullet you shoot is a bullet you could have saved. Equipment is scarce, and the game never gives you more than you need. Much of the difficulty comes from resource scarcity. It was difficult, even for its time, so is there any wonder it goes tried and unfinished? It's not a game you simply pick up and play. This is unfortunate, though understandable. An in-game explanation describes it to function similarly to the Bio-Reconstruction units.System Shock 2 is an old PC game that lacks the streamlined simplicity of modern game design, and many who start don't finish. The Quantum Bio-Reconstruction Machine along with System Shock's Restoration Bay would later Inspire the Vita Chamber from BioShock, the System Shock series' spiritual successor.Additionally, if a player dies in an area where a Resurrection Station is not active, the respawn will occur at the last used entrance (Bulkhead, Elevator, ladder) or, having entered MedSci Deck for the first time, in Cryo Recovery B, near the door to the Science Sector. In Multiplayer mode, only one player has to provide the Quantum Entanglement sample for others to be respawned. If a player dies on a level in which they have activated a Resurrection Station, then they come back to life at that Station. Death comes quickly on the Von Braun and the Rickenbacker. When you see a Quantum Bio-Reconstruction unit, activate it! You never know what’s around the corner, even in a quiet hallway. If the person with the stored template dies, the Machine can restore them to a semblance of their past, healthier condition. They work by taking Quantum Entanglement samples: genetic and physical templates of a specific person.

These devices are located inside a small red chamber with computer screens lining up the walls and a spinning humanoid hologram inside (appearing after activation).
